In the world of Christianity, one will find a melting pot of various personalities, methods, and beliefs. Truly, you could throw almost any subject into the pot and get numerous stances and opinions from brothers and sisters in Christ. The interesting thing (at least to me), is that as believers, we are encouraged in Scripture to be, “like-minded”.
When speaking to Christians, Peter pleaded, “Finally, all of you should be of ONE MIND.”

BEING OF ONE MIND. This concept frustrates me a little.
Really? Really Peter? Could you not plead for a reality that’s a little more attainable? We live in a world today, where it feels like Christians are more divided than ever, and I don’t say that flippantly.
I can remember a time when the TRUE way of accepting Christ as Savior was a hot doctrine debated amongst Christians. Or when folks were divided about what form of baptism was correct or Heaven help me, what style of music was acceptable during a worship service. Looking back on these issues now…they seem like simpler times to me…especially considering all the things that Christians argue about today.
The world is different now? You might say. The issues amongst Christians have changed as the world has. And to that I say…I hear you.
I’m thankful that even in my moments of frustration, I still have hope. I still believe that brothers and sisters in Christ can fulfill Peter’s plea that we be of ONE MIND. It’s possible, no matter how unattainable it might seem.
How?
Because I believe that being of ONE MIND means finding commonality with the mind of Jesus. Finding this harmony IS POSSIBLE if we purposely highlight the need to KNOW God’s Word in our lives.There is no greater authority on how to live than Scripture.It’s truly our best shot at finding common ground somehow.
