Have you ever stood before a gate outside someone’s backyard and not known what was on the other side?
Possibly, you’ve experienced this scenario whenever you moved into a new neighborhood and the house next to yours has a high fence that obstructs the view of their house and the property around it. Or perhaps you were doing work for a job that required you to enter into a customer’s backyard.
As you stood at the gate and got ready to open it, what were your expectations?
Could there be a beautiful flower garden or swimming pool beyond the gate? Maybe a swing set and tree house for the kids? What about a dog? Not a little yippie one…but instead a real big dog that snarls and has an intimidating bark? Honestly, the options are limitless, and it’s a reasonable expectation to believe that you could see just about anything beyond the gate of a backyard.
The same can be said of life and the expectations we hold about the quality of it.
It’s true that we can’t tell the future and what’s going to happen beyond the “GATE” of our lives, but there are things we can expect from God about our future. For one, we can confidently expect that He’s going to lead us into a place of plenty, peace, and happiness. We can also expect that when our days on earth are over, we will receive the gift of eternal life. We can expect and depend on these things from God concerning what’s to come, because He’s promised them to all, who accept Jesus Christ into their hearts. When you look at it that way, the future is truly bright and beautiful!
The final thing I’ll mention in this post that we can expect from God, is His support and love of our dreams. Always remember that you can never have a dream that’s too big for Him…so take courage and dream BIG! Accept your past, trust God for the handling of your future, and make the most of the time He’s given you today.
Face your future with confidence and the certainty that God is with you every step of the way. He wants you to have a real and joyful life…one better than you’ve ever dreamed of.
It’s there for you…move forward and open the gate.
Why?
Because, Jesus is THE GATE, and He’s waiting for you to come in and claim the WILL He has for your life.
“I am the Gate. Anyone who goes through me will be cared for—will freely go in and out, and find pasture. A thief is only there to steal and kill and destroy. I came so they can have real and eternal life, more and better life than they ever dreamed of.”
