God is a burden bearer of His children.
He is not only willing to take on our worries in this life, He commands that we cast them upon Him.
Why does He command this transfer of burdens from our hearts to His back?
It’s simple…He cares for us.
“So bow down under God’s strong hand; then when the time comes, God will lift you up. Since God cares for you, let Him carry all your burdens and worries.”
--1 Peter 5:6-7 (VOICE)
We live in a world that often makes God look like this huge, eternal ruler in the heavens, with a judge’s robe and gavel. A being that when He sees fit, will judge, punish, and even abandon people on this earth for His own amusement and purposes. The thing is, the God of the Bible is far from this description. If you read His Word closely, you’ll find that He loves us in such a unique way, that He’s set apart from all other so-called gods of the universe.
“No one has seen a God besides you, who acts for those who wait for Him.”
--Isaiah 64:4 (ESV)
So how do we cast our anxiety on Him?
We do it by trusting His Word that He cares for us and that He WANTS to carry our worries. For some that could be difficult. To trust and believe that God really cares for us is something our minds have trouble comprehending. But He does. And the only way we can release our burdens to God, is to start practically trusting in His love and protection of us.
He’s with us…He always will be. In the past, now, and in the future when we’re old and gray…God will walk with us through this life. We have to trust that He’s there. Just try…He won’t let you down.
“And when you are old, I will still be there, carrying you. When your limbs grow tired, your eyes are weak, and your hair a silvery gray, I will carry you as I always have. I will carry you and save you.
--Isaiah 46:4 (VOICE)
